1911-1951

The Doctor, the shoemaker, the Congressman, the perennial Presidential candidate, and the thief. The story surrounding this successful company is convoluted and often misunderstood. Popular history would have us believe that three Akron men got together and put a good idea down on paper in order to make a small fortune.

Michael Cohill was lucky enough to discover the true story surrounding this company while researching the M.F. Christensen & Son Co. Since the story was first published, new and interesting information has come to light. Akro Agate was probably the most successful toy marble manufacturer in the United States. It couldn’t help but be because it was based on everything that was good about the M.F. Christensen & Son Co.
