AMERICAN SHOOTER MARBLES Children who learn to
play, practice or play in a marbles tournament must have their own
3/4" American Shooter Marble. The Official Rules of
Ringer state: RULE 1- EQUIPMENT;
Section 5, Shooters shall be round made of any substance, except steel or
any other metal, and shall be not less than ONE-HALF INCH (1/2”) nor
more than SIX-EIGHTHS INCH (3/4”) in diameter, by exact measurement. Unless your hand is very
small, it ‘s a disadvantage to use a shooter that’s much smaller than
3/4". Unfortunately, all the
bags of marbles sold at local retail outlets are foreign-made, contain a
25 mm, (one inch,) shooter
marble and are intended for foreign children to play foreign games in
foreign countries. These large marbles are shot using very different
styles than the traditional way of shooting marbles in the USA, are far to
large to shoot in the USA way and cannot be used for practice or in The
Akron District Marbles Tournament. Foreign-made target marbles are 16 mm
(5/8”) and acceptable for practice. The American Toy Marble Museum has, by special arrangement with the Jabo glass factory in Marietta, Ohio obtained a good supply of 3/4" American shooter marbles. For information on how to get an official American shooter marble contact us. For more
