Register of American Manufacturers: Toy Marble Companies. Thomas Publishing Company – New York, N.Y. Thomas' Register has been publishing business directories since 1905. Every product and service available in the US was listed in this directory, including toy and industrial marbles. Companies had to pay to be included in this register.
Some general notes about listings:
More than likely, if a listing was purchased, it appeared in the next years register. Proof of this is that The American Marble and Toy Manufacturing Co. listed in 1905, ceased doing business in 1904 due to a fire. Another thing that seems true is that some listings were paid for in several year increments. IE, companies keep showing up long after they have ceased operations. The Christensen Agate Company fits this description well as does the Albright and Lightcap listing for Limaville, Ohio. Notice that there is a ceramic marble company listed every year till 1942!
