The S.C. Dyke & Co. 1887-1891 The first ever mass produced toy in America that was marketed to children. There are many first that the S.C. Dyke and company can claim, in regards to the American toy marble industry. This was the second place in Akron where clay toy marbles were produced. This was the first place in America where glass marbles where produced on a commercial scale.

The photo above shows what the S.C. Dyke & Co. site looks like today. The factory was located where the brick building now stands. The area is dug up because the Summit County Public Library that sits next door is being renovated. There will be a parking deck here sometime soon.
